What is Japanese PSE certification

PSE certification is a mandatory safety certification for electrical products in Japan and a mandatory market access system for electrical products in Japan. According to different products, PSE certification can be divided into "specific electrical supplies" and "non-specific electrical supplies". The former nameplate is pasted with diamond PSE mark, while the latter nameplate is pasted with round PSE mark. PSE certification fees for different types of products are different.

Products within the scope of rhombic PSE certification, that is, those belonging to the "specific electrical products" directory, must be certified by a third-party certification organization authorized by the Ministry of economy, industry and industry of Japan, obtain PSE certificate, and affix rhombic PSE mark on the nameplate.

Products within the scope of circular PSE certification, i.e. those within the "non-specific electrical supplies" directory, shall be subject to self-test and self declaration or entrusted by a third-party certification authority to confirm that they conform to the technical benchmark of Japanese electrical supplies, and the circular PSE mark shall be affixed on the nameplate.

Diamond PSE certification and round PSE certification

Japan's "electrical safety law" stipulates that 498 products must pass safety certification when entering the Japanese market. Among them, 165 kinds of class a products shall obtain the rhombic PSE mark, and 333 kinds of class B products shall obtain the circular PSE mark

PSE diamond certification: certification scope of class a specific electrical supplies

(1) Wires and cables, fuses, wiring devices (electrical accessories, lighting appliances, etc.), current limiters, transformers, ballasts

(2) Electric heating appliances, electric power application machinery appliances (household appliances), electronic application machinery appliances (high frequency hair remover)

(3) Other AC electrical and mechanical appliances (electric shock insecticidal device, DC power supply device), portable engine

Remarks: definition of "specific electrical appliances": electrical appliances with high possibility of danger in terms of structure, use method or other use conditions: ① used without monitoring for a long time; ② Use by socially vulnerable groups; ③ Electrical appliances used in direct contact with human body.

PSE round certification: Class B Japan non-specific electrical PSE certification scope

Japanese round PSE mark certified products, which belong to the catalogue of "non-specific electrical products", must be tested by a laboratory recognized by the Ministry of economy and industry of Japan to confirm that they meet the technical benchmark of Japanese electrical products and obtain the PSE certificate of qualified test report before they can be pasted with PSE round mark on the products before they can be sold in the Japanese market.

Detailed comparison between diamond PSE certification and circular PSE certification

Diamond:

(1) Diamond PSE is generally aimed at parts, especially key parts such as electronic components;

(2) Rhombic PSE requires a long review cycle;

(3) Diamond PSE certification directly issued by CQC, TUV, its and Japanese jet;

(4) There must be a third-party certification agency licensed by the Ministry of economy, trade and industry of Japan;

(5) According to the Denan law, the manufacturer is obliged to keep the test results and certificates;

(6) The label must have a diamond shaped PSE logo.

Circle:

(1) PSE circular certification is generally aimed at complete machine products;

(2) The round PSE does not require a short Factory review cycle;

(3) Round PSE can be tested and issued by a laboratory recognized in Japan;

(4) It must be certified by a third-party certification body licensed by an internationally recognized institution;

(5) According to the Denan law, the manufacturer is obliged to keep the test results and certificates;

(6) The label must have a circular PSE logo.

PSE certification fee

Because different products have different test requirements and different test costs involved, the PSE certification fee is not a fixed fee. If it needs to be assessed according to the product, the PSE certification fee is different for different products.
