Introduction to FCC certification
The full name of FCC certification is the Federal Communications Commission. In Chinese, it is the Federal Communications Commission of the United States. FCC certification is also one of our common electronic and electrical certification. Established by communicationact in 1934, it is an independent agency of the U.S. government and is directly responsible to Congress. FCC coordinates domestic and international communications by controlling radio, television, telecommunications, satellites and cables. In order to ensure the safety of radio and wire communication products related to life and property, the engineering and Technology Department of FCC is responsible for the technical support of the Committee and the approval of equipment in more than 50 states, Colombia and regions of the United States. Many radio application products, communication products and digital products require FCC approval to enter the U.S. market.
Latest FCC certification standard: FCC SDoC
On November 2, 2017, FCC of the United States Federal Communications Commission merged doc and verification into SDoC (supplier's declaration of conformity). SDoC certification will replace FCC verification and DOC certification procedures. All equipment applicable to FCC verification and DOC certification procedures can adopt SDoC certification procedures.
\The latest FCC SDoC policy has taken effect since November 2, 2017, the date of publication, but there is still a one-year transition period. That is, before November 2, 2017, products certified in accordance with FCC doc and verification can continue to be sold, with a transition period of one year, ending on November 2, 2018. The FCC VOC and DOC certification procedures made before the transition period are always valid, but if the product is modified, it needs to be re certified.
Important changes in FCC SDoC certification:
SDoC requires the applicant to provide the name, address, telephone number and other contact information of the responsible party of the products in the United States. The responsible party can be the manufacturer or importer.
In the past, there were three certification methods for electronic products: verification, Doc (Declaration of conformity) and certification. Now the latest fccsdoc certification is simpler and clearer than the previous procedures. FCC logo under SDoC certification procedure is no longer a mandatory requirement. FCC SDoC certification procedure allows the use of electronic labels and reduces cumbersome import declaration requirements at the same time.
For products that have passed the FCC SDoC certification procedure, customers can choose to mark or not mark the FCC logo.
The test certification of SDoC may not be carried out in the laboratory of fccaccredited, but the test certification of certification still needs to be carried out in the laboratory of fccaccredited.
For certification products, it will be allowed to use electronic screens to present FCC IDS; If the FCC ID cannot be marked on the product because the product is too small, and there is no electronic screen to display the FCC ID, it is necessary to put the FCC ID in the user manual, and at the same time, it is necessary to put it on the package of the product or paste it on the product with a removable label.
For products applicable to FCC Part18, commercial industrial, scientific and medical products need to be certified by SDoC or certification, commercial ultrasonic products (less than 500 watts, and the operating frequency is less than 90khz) and non-commercial industrial, scientific and medical products need to be certified by SDoC.
FCC certification is required for radio application products, communication products and digital products to enter the U.S. market.
Types of FCC certification
1. Self verification
The manufacturer or importer ensures that its products have been tested as necessary to confirm that the products comply with relevant technical standards and retain the test report. FCC has the right to require the manufacturer to submit equipment samples or product test data. Devices suitable for self verification include commercial computers, TV and FM receivers, and industrial, scientific and medical devices used by non mass consumers of FCC rule Part18.
2. Declaration of conformity
The party in charge of the equipment (usually the manufacturer or importer) tests the products in a qualified testing institution designated by the FCC to ensure that the equipment meets the relevant technical standards and retains the test report. The FCC has the right to require the party in charge to submit the samples of the equipment or the test data of the products. The equipment applicable to the declaration of conformity includes home computers and peripherals, civil broadcast receivers, super regenerative receivers, other receivers of FCC rule Part15, TV interface equipment, cable system terminal equipment and industrial scientific research and medical equipment used by mass consumers of Part 18. The responsible party shall make the following marks on the equipment.
3. ID authentication
FCC will review the samples (or photos) and test data submitted by the applicant. If they meet the requirements of FCC rules, an FCC ID number will be authorized to the equipment. Equipment suitable for certification include low-power transmitters such as cordless phones, remote controls for automatic doors, radio controlled toys and safety alarm systems, equipment for deliberately transmitting radio frequency energy in Part15, industrial, scientific research and medical equipment used by mass consumers in Part18, automatic frequency conversion receivers and ultra regenerative receivers, television interface equipment, and home computers and their peripherals. The responsible party shall mark the equipment with FCC ID.
FCC certification necessity
Products sold in the U.S. market need mandatory FCC certification. Products produced in the United States or imported from other countries need FCC certification test, which is the same as 3C certification in China. Many electronic products can be seen in the products on the market in the United States. This is the test of conduction and radiation of products, which is of great significance in the American market. FCC certification is an important passport and pass in the American market. Only with this mark can products enter the American market smoothly.
FCC certification scope
Products suitable for FCC certification include:
1. Personal computer and its peripheral equipment (display, printer, keyboard, power adapter, mouse, scanner, etc.)
2. Household appliances, electric tools (refrigerator, electric ironing, food grinder, electric kettle, electronic disinfection cabinet, microwave oven, air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, electric toys)
3. Audio and video products (radio, crt/led/lcd TV, set-top box dvd/vcdplayer, Mp3player, home audio, etc.)

Application process of FCC certification
1. First apply for an FRN. The applicant needs to apply for a permanent grant code for the first time to apply for an FCC ID. for the first time to apply for an ID, apply for a grant CDE.
2. Prepare the information required by the product
3. Review the data
4. Conduct tests
5. Obtain certificate
